Another Husker Hall-Of-Famer; A Hawkeye Passed Over

This is my 100th blog post!  I swear I've worked harder at maintaining this than I did the last year working at KMTV.   I can tell you it's a lot more fun writing about things you actually care about than some obscure high school sporting event (like soccer) and pretending to like it when you are delivering the hi-lites.

Randy Peterson from the Des Moines Register tweeted this morning that he wondered if this would be the day former Iowa tight end Marv Cook becomes a College Football Hall-of-Famer, the answer is no!  Cook passed over.  The question is, will he ever get in?  The answer, eventually.  Once you are on the ballot, your name never comes off so sooner or later someone will feel sorry enough for you to put you in.   By the way,  Cook deserves to be in the Hall.   Here's a good article from HawkCentral

Former Nebraska All-American Will Shields was a no brainer!  In fact don't be surprised if Shields is a first ballot NFL Hall of Famer next year.   I know he's a little biased but Kansas City  Chiefs Play-by-Play guy Mitch Holthus has said Shields might be the best offensive lineman in NFL history.

Shields never won a National Championship playing for the Huskers but he help set the standard in the 1990's of what was to become the famed Nebraska pipeline.  Oh, the good old days.
