Husker Football: Bubba, Bo and Boras

 Boras
The ultimate game of Poker has now started.  Forget the upcoming WSOP,  the three man game I am watching is between Bubba, Bo and Boras.

Nebraska football and baseball recruit Bubba Starling is the 5th overall pick in the 2011MLB draft.  If choosing between millions of dollars and college was tough on Starling before the draft, it just got a lot tougher.  He's been drafted by his hometown team, the Kansas City Royals and I have to believe the opportunity to play in the big leagues close to home is going to weigh heavily on the Gardner, Kansas superstar.

The Players:  Bo, he has a well thought out plan for his future quarterback.  A plan that allows starling to play both football and baseball for the Huskers.

Bo
Boras, as is Scott Boras the agent or in this case advisor extraordinaire.   Nobody negotiates bigger contracts in baseball that Boras.  Simply, he's the best and if he gets a the deal that is right it will be hard not to take his advice seriously.

Bubba:  He has the power to say yes or know.  I know Husker fans want him to come to Lincoln, but put yourself in his shoes, seriously!  Could you turn down 7, 8, 9, 10 million dollars?  The answer is no way.  He can take the millions and if the pro baseball thing doesn't work out come back and play football.  If he wants advice, he should call former Husker quarterback recruit Carl Crawford.

Bubba
There are no guarantees in life.  It's not a sure thing that Bubba will be a big leaguer.  It's not written in stone that Starling will be a star in Lincoln.   Millions of dollars are there for taking all he has to do is sign.   It adds up to security, opportunity and you don't have to give it back if things don't work out.   Can he say the same about coming to Nebraska?  Ask Cody Green.  Ask Patrick Witt.  Ask Harrison Beck.  Ask Curt Dukes.  I could go on and on and on.
