UNO Loss Helps Hawks and Huskers?

We find out that life can be hard sometimes, we learn these lessons on a daily basis and we hope that we become better people because of the adversity we go through.

I can't imagine what the entire athletic department at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is going through right now.  The football and wrestling programs are going to get axed so the department can grow financially and in stature.  A hard decision by Trev Ablerts but the right one.

How can UNO's loss help Nebraska and Iowa, simple there are very good athletes at UNO, good enough to complete at the D-1 level.  These athletes are going to be looking for a home, while most will have to play division 2, division 3 or NAIA, there are some who can give D-1 a shot.

Kirk Ferentz and Bo Pelini would be wise to call Pat Behrns to see if any potential walk-ons could provide depth.

Tom Brands and Mark Manning would be wise to call Mike Denney to see if any Maverick wrestlers want to continue winning National Championships.

It might not look like it now but there will be a happy ending to this story.

  1. Whoa Trav, about had a cow when you suggested that Bo Pelini look to UNO to add athletes, thankfully you summed it by the word "walk on" because I would be severely pissed if Paupchis wanted to make a scholarship offer to a D-II football player.

I would have no problem if a Maverick player, especially an in-state player would be given the opportunity to live out a dream and be a Husker.

    GBR!
