Iowa Figuring Out the PR Game

It's about time!  The University of Iowa is figuring out it needs to control the public relations game.  Way to often the Hawks have been behind the 8 ball on this and taken an absolute beating in the court of public opinion and that of the media.

This story on Hawk Central is a perfect example of preventing a problem or perception from festering into and ugly infection.  After all, Anthony Hubbard is an ex-con and he's now a Hawkeye.

Fran McCaffery

To be honest I give credit to Head Coach Fran McCaffery.  He gets it!  He's building a program and the last thing he needs is a set back.  By admitting he's put his reputation on the line as well as the program's he's sending a message positive message to Hubbard.  That message is I trust you.  I believe in  you, so much so I'm risking everything.

If you ask me that's exactly what Hubbard needs to hear.  Why?  It gives him something to believe in.  Something to play for.  He knows that second chances are for real.  Now it's up to him to finish the story.
