NCAA Wants To Talk

The NCAA (GOD) wants to talk to its followers (Universities) about the future of Division 1 athletics.  You can read about the scheduled retreat here.

I have to wonder if Big 10 Commissioner Jim Delaney forced this by talk of "paying" student athletes. I'm willing to bet yes.  This is good as the NCAA needs to be proactive in finding solutions to the problems it is in charge of policing instead of reactive.

The problem is that NCAA president Mark Emmert is only talking to college presidents.   This retreat should have AD's, coaches and even former student athletes.   It's rare that college president's fully understand athletics and how important they are and the revenue they generate for a school.

USC, Cam Newton and now Ohio State.  It's been a tough year for schools, it's been a touch year for the NCAA.  Tough taking on problems and violations that seem to be repeating themselves.   Let's be honest players have been taking money and other freebies for a long time.  In today's "entitlement" society, the or more money that is made the more the student athlete is going to feel taken advantage of.  When that happens is when problems start.
