The Next Nebraska Baseball Coach

Tom Shatel makes a compelling argument that Ed Servais would be a good pick to lead the Nebraska baseball program into the Big 10.  Servais is a proven winner, teacher, motivator and most importantly he can recruit the state.

Right now Servais looks good because Creighton won the MVC regular season championship and with the opening of TD Ameritrade Park, fans are actually showing up for games!    But Servais isn' the on "Baseball Guy" in the state.

Bob Herold has built a consistent winner at the University of Nebraska Omaha.   12 years with the Mavs and a record of 408-244-2.   Throw in 7 NCAA Tournament appearances and the D-2 College World Series in 2007 and you have a pretty solid resume'.

But it doesn't stop there.  Bob has cut his teeth in professional baseball has well, he left a pretty good gig with the Kansas City Royals to come home and coach his Alma Matter.

Tom Osborne doesn't need to make a big splash, he needs to hire the right coach.  A coach who can recruit, motivate, teach and represent the University with class. For those of us that know coach Osborne and coach Herold, they are cut from the same cloth.  High character, high integrity and very competitive.  Osborne doesn't have to look far to find a coach, that coach is Bob Herold.
