FOXsports.com correspondent Lisa Horne just doesn’t get it. Her story on Bo Pelini owing a Nebraska sailor an apology is out of line and ridiculous. Read Story Here
I am not a Husker apologist but Ms. Horne needs take a hard look at what was happening at the Holiday Bowl and not use the military and the flag to pull at every emotion possible. Ms. Horne fails to mention that almost 1,700 tickets were purchased by Nebraska fans and given to Naval and Marine personel so they could attened the game. She doesn't mention this fact from the Univesity,
In addition to the tickets purchased through the Huskers for Heroes program, the University of Nebraska Athletic Department also gave 500 tickets to the U.S. Marines, the group that unfurled the large American flag for the National Anthem pregame ceremony.

Nebraska was getting its ass handed to it and lost to Washington 19-7. A team the Huskers dismantled back in September. A real reporter would know that Bo Pelini doesn’t take losing well and asking him after the game if Morgan Ryan got to call his one play probably wasn’t the right time or place.
In all fairness, Morgan probably would have called a better play than Husker Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson did that night, but the Petty Officer 3rd Class from Minden, Nebraska did get to sit with the team the entire game and wear a Jersey.
Should Pelini have said the whole thing was a joke? No. But he shouldn’t be made out to look like an uncaring, unsympathetic coach by a correspondent who relishes the fact she told a story of heart break. If Ms. Horne wants a real story, maybe she should go out to sea for 7-months, I bet should we would come back a changed wo(man).
I think that Pelini thought that the game would be a blow out like the game earlier and the call would be made in mop up time. With the game not going how he wanted, they couldn't really afford to have a play call by a non-coach. Then they get beat and then he has to go sit and answer questions, not the thing he probably wanted to do. Just bad timing and bad reaction by Pelini.
