Iowa Is Officially Insane

Insanity!

Okay, now that I have your attention there is actually a shred of truth in the headline.  I decided not to write anything for a couple of days so I could fully grasp last week and what happened with 13 Iowa football players.  What happened to Head Coach Kirk Ferentz and what happened to Athletic Director Gary Barta.

What I know is that Ferentz, Barta and the entire Iowa Sports Information staff needs to go back to school... Old School and get a lecture from the man many consider to be the smartest who ever lived, Albert Einstein.

 Impossible since Einstein died in 1955, but the wisdom of Einstein rings true today.  I know we are talking about a football coach, an Athletic Director and some paper pushers but I think even they can understand what this great physicist is talking about.

Lesson #1-The definition of insanity.  According to Einstein: "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Ferentz, Barta and the Sports Info puppets handle every public relations problem the same way.  They don't handle it all! But yet when they are criticized locally and nationally they can't believe they didn't get a different result.

Lesson #2- "We can not solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them."

Lesson #3-"Any intelligent fool can make something bigger and more complex.  It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move it in an opposite direction.

If you don't like what Einstein has to say you can also refer to Newton's law's of motion.  "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

As Ferentz, Barta and even the Board of Regents learned this week, even taking no action causes a reaction.   However, I don't think it was equal.  The local and national media pushed hard, in fact went for the kill.  It wasn't an even fight as the University was more like a punching back in an off season workout.

Will Iowa learn?  History tells us no.  History tells us those in charge are actually insane! Those in charge keep doing the samething over and over again and expecting a different result.
